After a leisurely breakfast, your driver-guide reports to your hotel for start of the safari to the great Masai Mara, with a 7.30am departure for a picturesque drive descending the Great Rift Valley and onwards to Masai Mara, Kenya's famous game reserve. Stop briefly enroute at the Great Rift Valley view point to enjoy the stunning views of an enormous valley system said to be visible from the outer space. Arrive in Maasai Mara in time for lunch. After lunch we will have an afternoon game drive which will allow spotting of the magnificent wildlife in the park. The reserve is known for providing excellent predator sightings thanks to its relatively large population of lions, cheetahs and leopards. Bordering Tanzania, the Mara is in the northern extension of Serengeti and forms a wildlife corridor between the two countries. Dinner and overnight will be at the camp.
This will be a day of unlimited game drives for you. One in the morning before breakfast and the other in the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best time to spot animals as they are most active. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. Although it might be tempting to stay in bed and wait until the afternoon to explore, I promise you this is a game drive you don't want to miss.
Your will have an opportunity to drive down to the Mara River, site of the Great Migration when in season – July through October. The immense herds of wildebeest and zebra are a magnificent sight, matched only by the drama of the predators who lie in wait for them.
